Hugo is a senior associate in the Supreme Court Litigation and Commercial Contracts practice groups.
Hugo litigates on a wide array of topics before the Dutch Supreme Court and was involved in several landmark Supreme Court decisions. Hugo has a particular affinity with contract law, tort law and civil procedural law, but also litigates in cases with EU law, international private law and international public law aspects. In addition, Hugo handles contract law disputes before lower state courts and in arbitration.
In 2024, Hugo obtained a PhD at Leiden University with a dissertation on the topic of forfeiture of rights and Dutch statutory duties to complain (art. 6:89 and 7:23 paragraph 1 Dutch Civil Code). He also edited a treatise on this topic in an authoritative Dutch series of monographs. In addition, he frequently publishes and lectures on a variety of topics.
