Michiel Martin joins BarentsKrans executive board

On 1 September 2024, Michiel Martin joined the BarentsKrans executive board. He takes over from Jeffrey Koenecke. From September, the BarentsKrans executive board will therefore consist of Jesse Zijlma (chairman of the board), Cosima Stroeve (director operations) and Michiel Martin.

Amsterdam office

On 1 November this year, BarentsKrans will be opening an office in Amsterdam. Michiel is closely involved in this development and is dealing with it in his new role of member of the executive board. Michiel: ‘Expanding to Amsterdam is a logical step in our firm’s ambition to meet the growing demand for high-quality legal services from both domestic and international clients.’

Continuing to attract new talent is also important in order to continue the firm’s development. ‘An office in Amsterdam offers opportunities not only for our firm and for our clients, but also for everyone who works and will be working at BarentsKrans. That also requires guidance from the board, which I will actively engage in.’

The Amsterdam office also offers Corporate / M&A opportunities. Like other colleagues in the firm, Michiel will therefore be a regular presence in the Zuidas. ‘I look forward to working at both offices from November,’ he said.
