BarentsKrans welcomes FinTech partner Arno Voerman

BarentsKrans is delighted to announce that Arno Voerman will join the firm on 1 October 2024 as a partner in Financial Law, with a particular expertise in FinTech & Payments. Voerman will strengthen the firm’s Banking & Finance practice, bringing with him his own extensive experience and that of his team member, lawyer Dirk Dekker, who will also join BarentsKrans. Both will be based at the new Amsterdam Zuidas office, set to open on 1 November.

With many years’ experience as a partner in FinTech & Payments, Arno Voerman has an impressive track record, including previous roles as partner at international law firm Dentons and Dutch firm Van Doorne. His advisory portfolio includes Dutch and international banks, payment service providers and FinTech companies, and he also offers guidance to investors on market entry and product launches. In addition, Voerman advises clients on the impact of new financial regulations, highlighting the opportunities within this dynamic and constantly evolving field of law.

Voerman: “My main focus is on providing legal assistance on strategic projects in FinTech & Payments, often complex matters that require knowledge spanning several areas. I previously worked with Marc Elshof, BarentsKrans’ Data & Technology partner, and I am excited to be able to bring together the strengths of ‘Fin’ and ‘Tech’ at BarentsKrans. The opening of the new Zuidas office is the perfect time for me to join BarentsKrans and to expand my practice alongside the firm’s talented team.”

Lawyer Dirk Dekker, a member of Arno’s team since 2023, will also join BarentsKrans. A rising talent, he specialises in financial supervision law with a strong focus on the FinTech sector.

Jesse Zijlma, managing partner at BarentsKrans: “We are delighted to welcome Arno to the team. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, which, together with his emphasis on technology and innovation, puts our firm in an even stronger position to respond to the growing demand for expertise as financial supervision regulations become increasingly complex.”
