Amsterdam, 1 September 2026 – BarentsKrans welcomes Gijs ter Braak as partner and civil-law notary. His arrival further strengthens the firm’s corporate civil-law notary practice and supports the continued growth of its services from the Amsterdam office.
Gijs has been working in the notarial profession since 2003 and has served a civil-law notary since 2019. He advises private equity firms, companies and financial institutions on domestic and cross border transactions, restructurings, and corporate governance matters. He combines his expertise in Dutch corporate law, the Dutch Corporate Governance Code and Dutch Financial Supervision Act (Wft) with a practical and solution-oriented approach.

The appointment of Gijs ter Braak reflects BarentsKrans’ ambition to further expand its Corporate / M&A practice. Gijs has extensive experience advising clients in sectors including private equity, financial institutions, telecommunications, media, life sciences, energy, and infrastructure. He regularly works on cross border matters and has considerable expertise in corporate governance. He advises companies, board of directors, general counsels and corporate secretaries on complex governance issues and sensitive corporate law matters.
