BarentsKrans has once again been awarded a silver ranking in this year’s IAM Patent 1000, reinforcing the firm’s leading position in patent law. The ranking, compiled by the international platform IAM, recognises leading firms and practitioners in the field.
IAM Patent 1000 describes our firm as follows: ‘When high-value technology disputes heat up, BarentsKrans is often at the forefront. Its IP team, embedded within a full-service firm, is sharply focused on contentious work, combining broad legal capability with deep litigation expertise. The group handles disputes across a wide range of technologies, with particular strength in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, where it has been involved in some of Europe’s most closely watched cases. Beyond life sciences, the team is active in high-tech and telecommunications matters, advising on multi-jurisdictional strategies and preparing cases before Dutch courts, as well as handling complex engineering disputes, including acting for SBM Offshore in a patent entitlement case. Alongside litigation, the team advises on trade secret protection, helping companies shape internal policies and decide how best to protect key innovations.’
Partner Jaap Bremer is an experienced patent litigation lawyer and appears before national and international courts, including the Unified Patent Court (UPC). He also advises on the protection of trade secrets and on negotiating IP transactions. He is personally named in the IAM Patent 1000: ‘At the core of the practice is Jaap Bremer, a leading patent litigator focusing on infringement and validity disputes, particularly in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and consumer sectors.’
We are grateful for this recognition and proud of the work of our patent team. We thank our clients and peers who contributed to the IAM Patent 1000 research.
