They regularly represent well-known brands, for instance in the field of food & beverages, sanitary fittings, media & (outdoor) advertising, energy, household products, energy and online payment methods. The team is often involved in multi-jurisdictional disputes, which means that we are familiar with working closely together with clients and law firms abroad.
The attorneys of BarentsKrans are very experienced in conducting (cross-border) infringement, invalidity and cancellation proceedings before various courts, as well as opposition proceedings at the BOIP and EUIPO and domain name arbitrations (SIDN and WIPO). We assist clients with large scale enforcement projects, also in cooperation with Customs authorities, and battling illegal parallel import. We also assist clients in disputes regarding misleading and comparative advertising and unfair trade practices. The team has specialist expertise in pharmaceutical advertising.
In addition, the IP & Technology department assists on strategy, portfolio management and commercialisation of trade marks, designs and product get-up. We assist clients in drafting, and negotiating transactions, including trade mark license agreements, co-branding agreements and co-existence agreements. We act as sparring partners for clients that are preparing for the launch of new products and advertising campaigns.
