Maarten focuses his practice on financial services regulations, securities and custody laws and securities litigation and has represented clients in a range of acquisition finance, structured finance and capital market transactions, including fund structuring. His clients are mainly Dutch and foreign banks, custodians, investment funds, brokers, insurance companies and stock exchanges. He is associated with the Centre of Financial Law of the University of Amsterdam and a lecturer on financial law at various academic institutions.

Acting for the Dutch Ministry of Finance in relation to the acquisition of the Dutch Investment Bank for Development
Acting for Euronext Amsterdam Stock Exchange in drafting its local Dutch stock exchange rulebook, following it’s the merger of Amsterdam Exchanges (AEX) into Euronext
Acting for a Dutch bank in connection with the merger, split-off and liquidation of three of its listed (umbrella) investment funds and related sub-funds
Acting for a number of Dutch private banks to investor litigation in relation to alleged liability for distribution of financial (structured) products
Assisting a large international venture capital fund in the bidding process for one of the largest execution-only brokers in the Netherlands
