Laurens graduated from Utrecht University in 2008, where he obtained a master’s degree in Corporate, Social and Economic Law. During his studies, he put a heavy emphasis on employment law and labour law. In 2007, Laurens spent two semesters at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Law (USA). He wrote his thesis about employers’ liability law in the USA and The Netherlands, for which he received the Capra Thesis Prize 2008 (best thesis on employment law in The Netherlands). In 2008, Laurens joined BarentsKrans’ Labour Law department. He advises and litigates in various employment and labour matters and regularly argues such cases before the Dutch Supreme Court.
